A Thousand Voices for Women’s Health

As architectural plans took shape for Women’s College Hospital new building, we conducted an unprecedented, two-year study that asked more than 1,000 women from Ontario’s diverse racial, cultural, economic and L.G.B.T.Q. communities, a simple question: What do you want from a hospital? A media and community event launched the results, with keynotes from the Minister of Health and Indigenous activists. An advertising campaign made the findings public. A seminal research report detailed the insights for stakeholders. Most importantly, the responses informed the very design of the facility, now one of Toronto’s landmark hospital buildings.
